I see on various forums where people ask about how to get into higher difficulties; I will share some important points a player needs to be aware of. In general, I will try to not be too specific as the game changes regularly and certain advice will no longer be valid; it’s more important to get into a certain mindset about how to view province management than for me to provide say, a complete building guide for your provinces. I will update this page over time as I think of things
Province Management
Provinces don’t necessarily have to be built to just economy or military; it’s possible to do both pretty well but your priority should be:
Growth > Economy > Public order
Why? Growth is needed to built up settlements to unlock more building slots. For minor settlements this means being able to build walls (super important); for major settlements this means accessing higher tiers of buildings and gaining more hero capacity.
Public order is good to have but don’t beat yourself up trying to control it everywhere 100% of the time. Controlled revolts in the early game provide experience, money, and sometimes important faction resources (for example, sacrifices for the Cult of Sotek faction). This ties into corruption/influence mechanics: It’s good to manage it, but if it causes a revolt, it’s just an opportunity to get experience and money.
Faction Specific Economy Notes
Skaven: Food is more important than growth. Why? Skaven have the unique ability to spend food to level up a settlement on capture. As a Skaven faction, you want to maximize food gain throughout the campaign and take territory only when you can max the settlement on capture.
